When A Coach Is In The Wrong

Earlier this month a ref was attacked by two players during a High School football game in Texas. The players appeared on Good Morning America and blamed their coach for what happened. They along with their lawyer said the coach gave the order and they just followed the play.

When I first heard about them blaming their coach I was in disbelief. Who blames their coach? There is no way a coach would tell their players to harm a ref. Then low and behold an article comes out saying the coach admitted he told his players to attack the ref.

Assistant coach Mack Breed supposedly admitted to the schools principal that he directed the students to make the referee pay for the racial comments and calls he had made during the game. He also stated he should have taken care of the ref himself.

This guy Mr Breed should never be able to coach children again, not even in a game of chess. A childs coach is someone that they look up to, someone they respect, someone that is a leader. This guy is not a coach!

I don't think the players are blameless in the situation either. You are not talking about young children. These players are in highschool they are both at least 17 which means they should know better. Shame on their coach for leading them in the wrong direction and shame on the players for not having a moral compass.

I love every coach I have ever had. I would go to the ends of the earth to make them proud. What I would not do is direspect my parents or myself in the process. I hope the players take something away from this situation, I hope they learned what they did makes them cowards, and I pray they ask the ref for forgivness.

Your age nor size makes you a man, to be a man you have to act as such. A real man knows when to say they are sorry, a real man makes his wrongs right. I hope these guys man up and do the right thing.
