An Adventure In My Own Backyard

The last two days have been kinda crazy. The wildlife has taken over my backyard.

Yesterday we were all in the backyard cooking on the grill, my dogs were walking the fence line when all of a sudden a baby bird falls out of the bush and gets hung in the fence. I get the dogs back in the house as fast as I can and return to try to help the baby bird. I don't know if there were multiple bird mommies in the bush or the mother of the fallen baby called for backup but as I tried to get over to the baby the went on the attack. They were dive bombing me from all directions. The baby finally got free from the fence only to fall on the wrong side. I stayed untill the parents came to help it so hopefully the little guy is okay.

Today I had a whole new problem. I went out to cut the grass and my dad told me to be on the look out for baby birds. He did not want me to run over any. Well guess what, I managed not to run over any baby birds but I did run over a nest of Cottontail rabbits. I destroyed their home. Luckily I did not injure any of them. I am going now to try to rebuild their nest so hopefully their mama will come back and care for them. I guess I am going to be a rabbit patrol for the next few weeks. I hope they survive!
