Muhammad Ali One Of The Greats

Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. in Louisville Ky on January 17, 1942. He eventually became known as one of the greatest heavyweighhts in boxing history.

He has won many coveted titles including The Golden Gloves, and an Olympic Gold Medal.

Ali got his start with the help of a local police officer Joe Martin. Officer Martin met Muhhamad Ali when Ali's bike was stolen. Officer Martin trained youth at the local gym after hours.

Ali won his forst amateur match in 1954 by split decision. In 1960 he won a spot on the U.S Olympic Boxing Team. He traveled to Rome, Italy and won the gold.

His career took a turn for the worst in 1967 when he was found guilty of refusing to be inducted into the military. The boxing association took away his title and suspended him from the sport for three and a half years. He came back in 1970 and and fought in some notorious matches, by the late 70's Ali's boxing career was coming to an end.

In 1981 Ali fought his last bout losing to Trevor Berbick. The next day he announced his retirement from the sport. Three years later he announced that he has Parkinson's disease. He became devoted to raising awarness for Parkinson's and has been a big supporter for The Make A Wish Foundation and The Special Olympics.

Some people are born into greatness, Ali worked hard for his. Ali once said

"He who is not courageous enough to take risk will accomplish nothing in life". He took many risk and accomplished goals that some of us will only dream of. Live life like it's your last day, have fun, and dream big.
