It's a scary world for teens. The constant bullying, the harressment, and the feelings of not fitting in with your peers. Everyday you hear about a suicide or suicide attempt by a young person.
According to The Parent Resourse Program
Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. (2010 CDC WISQARS)
Suicide is the THIRD leading cause of death for college-age youth and ages 12-18. (2010 CDC WISQARS)
More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED.
Each day in our nation there are an average of over 5,400 attempts by young people grades 7-12.
Four out of Five teens who attempt suicide have given clear warning signs
It's very sad that some teenagers see no other way out of their pain. It drives me crazy to think people out there can be so cruel to others. If you know someone that's in a downward spiral, please reach out to them before it's to late. Be a friend, listen, let them use your shoulder to cry on. Save a life!
The number for The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
